Attention Members--Bylaws Revisions Underway 2018

The Board of Directors is proposing a bylaws revision. Members must vote to approve the changes.

The OSRT Board of Directors met and discussed two proposed changes to the current bylaws. These changes are presented to the membership for consideration, approval and adoption. To facilitate a vote to revise the bylaws, the membership must be given a 30-day notice of the proposed changes along with notice of the voting process.

A notification email will be sent to all members. Thirty days following the email notice, a second email will be sent to members with a link to an online voting ballot. Members will be asked to vote for or against the revisions. If approved by a two-thirds vote of the returned ballots, bylaws changes will go into effect immediately.

Below is the rationale, current bylaws wording, and proposed changes:

Revision #1
Student Leaders and the Student Director of the OSRT Board serve in these capacities during the senior year of their radiography program. In these positions, the students attend the Annual Meetings at the beginning and the end of their terms, as well as all board meetings and business meetings. These experiences should be valued when a Student Leader or Director chooses to be nominated for a positon on the OSRT Board of Directors. In order to allow service as a Student Leader or Student Director to be considered as a qualification for election to the OSRT Board of the Directors, the following change to the OSRT Bylaws is proposed. This change was approved by the OSRT Board of Directors on Sept. 22, 2017.

Current Wording:

Article VI Board of Directors
Section 2: Qualifications for Member-at-Large

  1. Active membership in the OSRT for two (2) consecutive years immediately prior to nomination;
  2. Maintain active OSRT membership for the duration of the term;
  3. Maintain current ASRT membership;
  4. Service as an OSRT or OSRT-ERF committee member, or OSRT-ERF Director for a minimum of one (1) year.

Proposed Wording:

Article VI Board of Directors
Section 2: Qualifications for Member-at-Large

  1. Active membership in the OSRT for two (2) consecutive years immediately prior to nomination; or one (1) year as a student leader and one year active membership in the OSRT immediately prior to nomination.
  2. Maintain active OSRT membership for the duration of the term;
  3. Maintain current ASRT membership;
  4. Service as an OSRT or OSRT-ERF committee member, or OSRT-ERF Director for a minimum of one (1) year.

Revision #2
In recognition for dedication and years of service to the OSRT by those members who have been unanimously chosen for Life Membership by the Board of Directors, the following change to the current OSRT Bylaws is proposed. This change was approved by the OSRT Board of Directors on Jan. 20, 2017.

Current Wording:

Article III, Section 3: Membership Categories

E. Life Members will be active members who have rendered unusual service to the Society. Life membership shall be granted by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors. Life members shall pay no dues and shall have all the obligations and privileges of an active member.

Proposed Wording:

Article III, Section 3: Membership Categories

E: Life members shall pay no dues, pay no OSRT Annual Meeting registration fee and shall have all the obligations and privileges of an active member

On behalf of the OSRT Board of Directors, thank you for your consideration.
