Linnea Hopewell, MEd, RT

Ms. Linnea Hopewell has been dedicated to the radiology profession for over 30 years.  She has been a leader within the OSRT organization since the 1980s.   Linnea's education and credentials are also very noteworthy.

Ms. Hopewell began her career as a Diagnostic Staff Radiographer at Lima Memorial Hospital after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Medical Professions in 1973 from The Ohio State University.  Linnea quickly advanced over the next seven years to positions of Educational Coordinator, Senior Technologist/Clinical Instructor, and Special Procedures Technologist.  In 1980, she took a position as a Faculty Member at Lima Technical College.  Within four years, Linnea was promoted to Clinical Coordinator and then to Acting Program Director/Assistant Chairperson.

Ms. Hopewell is currently the Program Director of the Radiology Program at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), a position she has held for 20 years.  During this time, Linnea also completed her Masters in Education from Ohio University and maintains three ARRT certifications in Radiography, Mammography and Quality Management.  While serving in her capacity as Program Director, Linnea has served on numerous elected, appointed and volunteer committees and councils at COTC.

In regard to professional affiliations, Ms. Hopewell has worked diligently at both the state and national levels. She has held memberships in the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiological Sciences, the Central Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists, and the Central Ohio Society of Mammographers.

Ms. Hopewell's commitment to the profession is further exemplified through multiple publications on Legislation and Health Policy and Radiology.  Linnea was also the Co-Editor of the OSRT's "Cardinal Rays" newsletter for over 10 years. 

Linnea has actively served and dedicated her time to the OSRT in each of the following capacities during her career:

  • Co-Chair, Health Policy Committee (2001-2003,  2006-2007) 

Ms. Hopewell has served our society as an advisor to the Ohio Department of Health and has been involved at the national level serving the profession as an ASRT Affiliate Delegate.  As recognition for her accomplishments, Linnea received the OSRT Technologist of the Year award in 1997.  The OSRT is pleased to extend yet another honor of the 2007 Penn-Hu-Par Lecturer to Ms. Hopewell for a lifetime of service and dedication to the profession.
