Ms. Palmer started her radiology career in 2001 as a technologist aide in the Computed Tomography Department at Riverside Methodist Hospital, alongside the best CT technologist she knew, her mother. In 2006, she graduated from the Ohio State University with her Bachelor’s Degree from the School of Allied Medical Professions. Emma has been a proud OSRT member since serving as student director. As a technologist, she has served as chairperson and a member of numerous committees within the organization.

In April 2013, Ms. Palmer was elected to the OSRT Board of Directors. She currently serves as a Health Policy Co-Chairperson and the Student Liaison. During the past year in Health Policy, Emma has searched for a new legislative consultant for OSRT, has had contact with legislators and has met with a legislative aide.  She plans to attend RT in DC in March, and she routinely attends REC and RAC meetings with the Ohio Department of Health. Serving as the student liaison, Emma worked to investigate the involvement the OSRT could have in the ASRT Student Leader Program as well as worked with students and program directors. In June 2013, she attended the ASRT Annual Meeting to accept the Grass Roots Advocacy Award on behalf of the OSRT. In July, Emma began her term as the ASRT CT Chapter Delegate. In September, she was selected to participate in the ASRT Leadership Academy.

Emma currently works as a CT Technologist and Radiographer at the Westerville Medical Campus. In the summer of 2013, she was accepted the OhioHealth Neighborhood Care Professional Development Program. She is developing a Quality Assurance program for CT Exams and CT Technologists. She also serves on the OhioHealth CT Innovation Committee, Westerville Emergency Employee Action Team, and the OhioHealth Neighborhood Care Diversity and Inclusion Council. In October 2013, Emma was nominated for Health Service Excellence and received the OhioHealth Prism Award for Integrity. She received recognition for her customer services coming from the love she has for her job and chosen career! In February 2014, she will begin the OhioHealth’s Emerging Leader program.

Emma is a mother of two lovely boys and a wife to Derrick, her husband of six years. She is an active member of the Sunbury United Methodist church and its ministries.  For these accomplishments Emma Palmer has been nominated for the 2014 O.S.R.T. Technologist of the Year Award.
