OSRT Activity 2011-2012: Report to the Membership

jackie_heather_lindaIn keeping members informed, we would like to provide some information on the activity of our membership over the past twelve months. This information was compiled from the OSRT Annual Membership Survey conducted through SurveyMonkey. We recognize that this is not an exhaustive list of activities as some members are actively involved in some very important professional activities that did not get reported. Please be sure to report your involvements and activities when the OSRT Annual Membership Survey invitation comes to you.

Here are some very exciting and impressive results to report to you:

Twenty-six percent of OSRT members have had contact with a state or national congressional leaders to discuss an allied health, medical imaging or radiologic science issue. In addition, members attended and provided testimony at Ohio Medical Board, Radiation Advisory Council, Radiation Generating Equipment Committee, and Public Health Council meetings.

OSRT members are actively participating on the ASRT Quality Management Practice Standards, Society for Pediatric Radiology/Image Gently Campaign, General X-ray Machine Operators groups and Ohio Department of Health Radiologic Technology Scope of Practice discussions. In addition, we are proud that OSRT members are have been appointed or elected to serve as the Radiology Steering Committee Chair, the ASRT Editorial Review Board, the RA Education Consortium, as the AEIRS Spectrum Editor, the ASRT CR/DR Task Force, the ASRT Curriculum Revision Taskforce, the Practice Standards Mammography Subcommittee, and the Practice Standards LXMO Subcommittee. Ohio was well represented through the service of eight members elected as Chapter Delegates for the 2011 House of Delegates. Three members traveled and actively participated in the 2011 RT in DC event.

OSRT members also served the ASRT in the following capacities; Mentor, Chairman, Editorial Review Board, Education Chapter Steering Committee, ASRT Representative to the Image Gently Campaign, ICANL Board Member, Vice President, ERF Scholarship Review Committee.

Four members completed the ASRT Leadership Academy and six members delivered a professional presentation at an  annual conferences for state Societies other than Ohio. In addition, five members delivered a professional presentation at a national continuing education conference.

Four members have been appointed or elected to national accrediting or credentialing agencies such as the ARDMS, JRCERT, JRCNMT. Finally, fourteen members report that they have participated in activities with other key organizations.  Examples include RSNA, OSU Seminar, Society to Advance Radiologic Technology, Ohio State Radiologist Society, and served as an AEIRS Director.

The OSRT is one of the most active State Professional organizations in Medical Imaging. We are proud of our works and believe our efforts make a difference at not only the state, but also at the national levels. Thanks for the impressive list of contributions from our membership!
