RoseFitzWe are sad to announce the recent passing of Rose Vivian Fitz, 87, of Zanesville. Rose passed away peacefully on Friday March 11, 2016. Rose was 87 years old and was born and raised in Philo, Ohio. After graduation from high school in 1946, Rose immediately started her worklife at the Laboratory and Radiology department at Bethesda Hospital (now Genesis) in Zanesville. It did not take long after she trained as a Radiologic Technologists for her to be named the Director of the Radiology Department. She retired in 1995 after 50 years of service, having dedicated her life to a long career in radiology and to the betterment of healthcare. Not many RTs can claim a 50-year career!

Rose was very active in the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologist (OSRT) serving for years on many committees and elected board positions including President and Board Chair. She was awarded Life Membership in OSRT in 1988--one of only 17 technologists who have been honored with this prestigious award. In addition, her dedication was further recognized as OSRT who honored Rose by permanently naming its annual business luncheon as the Rose Fitz Business Luncheon. Rose was also active throughout her career in National Radiologic Science organizations and she took great pride in maintaining lifelong friendships with her colleagues at the local, state and national levels.

Throughout her life she was devoted to many local charities and fundraisers and received recognition for much of her work. In 1994 Rose was proud to have been the recipient of the Women of Achievement - Josephine Phillips Health Care Award. Being from a strong Christian family, she was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Philo taking part in choir, church council and special church events. Travel was a favorite past time. Rose also shared her talent of gourmet cooking with extravagant parties at her home. Her ultimate passion was her love for her multi-generational family. She served as a caregiver for all, and will be forever remembered by her family and friends. Rose was one fine lady and consummate professional--she will be missed.
